Discussion 1

Do you think an Administrator should be like "Sniff and Scurry”?
Explain and be specific. How can you as an administrator deal with "Hem and Haws" in your schools.

After watching the movie "Who Moved My Cheese", Yes, I believe an adminstrator should be like Sniff and Scurry, I believe an adminstrator should be like them because they were accepting to change. Sniff and Scurry were also observant to know that change was happening, and that it will happen. As an administrator you have to be willing to change, you can not be afraid of change and wanting to keep things the way that they are all the time. When something doesn't work you must change it for the better. They were observant, they inspected their area and when the time came to change they changed with their situation. Sometimes you cant sit and ask the same questions over and over as in Why? sometimes the best thing to do is simply change and monitor in case you need to change again. Nothing stays the same forever especially in education, times change, people change, the way of doing things change, materials change, etc. As an administrator you have to be open to change in order to achieve success.
In order to deal with the Hem and Haws in my school I would definitely offer motivation. Haw wasnt as much a problem because after some self evaluation and a desire to want better he himself decided to change. He began recapping events that also let him know change doesn't just happen all of sudden it was already happening he was just not observant enough. so now he has witnessed and is accepting to change.

In order to deal with the Hem, I would offer motivation as far as for them to see that the change has happened all around them, I would as an administrator talk to them to see what the problem is and why they are having difficulties accepting the change, at least to get their perspective, also by doing this i would do motivational interviewing with them by asking questions that would allow them to re-examine thier thought process such as, "if things worked  exactly how you want, what would be different or what would you do different?"once this is done i would focus the most energy on the people who are focused on the change who have accepted it and who knows and understands that change will happen and will constantly happen. This is where the most significant results will take place and hopefully the results will be enough to show the one person who is unwilling to change that change is not always bad and also hope they understand that change will always happen wether they agree or not.
